« The saxophone and cello sound together as one, much more than the sum of their parts—the sound is mesmerizing, soothing, powerful, captivating. In the hands of composer Denis Levaillant, this soundscape takes the listener through many moods and colors on a journey unlike any other. Both contemplative and compelling, Levaillant's Blue Shadows speaks to the modern soul with a unique voice. »

« This fantastic music, the only one in the soprano saxophone repertoire, plunges the performer into the polychrome world of unheard-of timbres, subtle melodies, and frenzied rhythms of Denis Levaillant, an extraordinary composer.
Above all, this duet is a substantial work, structured in four movements, requiring great sensitivity, nuanced phrasing, and stamina to extract its hypnotic quintessence.
Like a fakir, it's a question of standing on nails and levitating, so the technical play is generous, delicate, and physical.
In short, at last (!), a great piece was written for the soprano saxophone and piano, which has been missing from our repertoire. It will become a reference work for specialists of this instrument. »

'Allow me to present to you (for a change) Manhattan Rhapsody, a work for tenor saxophone and piano by Denis Levaillant, a French composer who is eminently representative of today's music, and one of the most brilliant we know. Although written in a traditional technique (and therefore immediately accessible to the public), this piece uses an idiomatic language for the instrument. I am happy to recommend this typically 'French' success to you, as there are not so many quality pieces for tenor.’ Jean-Marie Londeix
