uraufgeführt und aufgezeichnet von Jean-Marc Foltz, wurde das Werk oft von ihm in Europa gespielt. Es nutzt die neuen Techniken des harmonischen Scannens und gibt vom Instrument einen sehr lyrischen Eindruck wieder.

“Easy/Uneasy is a major study for the bass clarinet. In it, Denis Levaillant pushes the instrument’s capabilities to the limit: extreme dynamics, wide range, velocity, use of harmonics… making the bass clarinet an incredibly rich and complete instrument. As a performer, this work has considerably broadened my vision of the instrument and its possibilities. Musically, the piece also offers great diversity. It is broadly situated within the legacy of French musical aesthetics, as heard in Debussy, with all its transparency, elegance, and finesse. This, however, does not prevent the composer from incorporating other influences such as jazz, more contemporary playing techniques (flatterzunge, growl...) or even truly lyrical moments.I had the opportunity to work on Easy/Uneasy with Jean-Marc Foltz, who premiered the piece, and to perform it during my recital at the conclusion of my Master’s degree in Performance at the Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg.”
